Introduction - Common Questions about PaDS
Psychoanalysts Database System (PaDS) is a database system used by the International Journal of Psychoanalysis (IJP) and Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing (PEP). PaDS is owned and controlled by IJP, in consultation with a User Group. Other psychoanalytic organizations may in future become users. PaDS allows for a number of cost savings that, therefore, keeps subscriptions to IJP and PEP down. (IJP is wholly owned by the Institute of Psychoanalysis in London and PEP is a joint venture between the Institute and the American Psychoanalytic Association.)
IJP and PEP take privacy issues seriously and are committed to protecting information about their customers. This policy explains what information PaDS holds about you as a PEP customer, how that information is used, to whom it is disclosed and how it is stored and protected.
PaDS is hosted on the IJP server in the UK. PaDS information is processed by IJP staff in London and PEP staff in London and California (known as "PaDS users").

If you have no previous history with PEP then please create a new record with your own userid and password by following this link. Do not create a new record if you think you might have one already (see below) as this could prejudice the correct working of your existent subscriptions.

What should I do if I have forgotten my userid and/or password?
If you have forgotten your userid you need to find out what it is. If you subscribe to Pep through a psychoanalytic society or other group then please contact the group organizer. Otherwise please email PEP support: support@p-e-p.org.
If you know you userid but have forgotten your password then follow this link to PaDS and put your your userid in the correct box and anything in the password field. When you try to log on you will get an error message inviting you to request that your password be emailed to you. Follow the instructions and you will get a confirmation. You will shortly receive an email provided the email address you have given PEP is the one where you check your email. If you are still unsuccessful email PEP support: support@p-e-p.org.
What information do we keep about you?
Contact details. PaDS holds - your name, address, psychoanalytic or other society, telephone* and fax* numbers and e-mail address(es)*, where the asterisks indicate optional information. In addition it records your computer operating system (if you have supplied it to PEP) and the names of the organizations on the PaDS system with whom you have dealt in some form in the past (at present, PEP, UCL Conference programme and IJP). This information is processed by IJP staff in London and PEP staff in London and California and might also be processed by other PaDS users. Order information. Details on PaDS (including payment method details) are only seen by staff with whose company you have placed an order. Thus details of an order placed with PEP cannot be seen by IJP staff and vice versa.

How does PEP use your contact information?
PEP uses these details for PEP order maintenance, renewals, and the communication of news about PEP.
To whom is your contact information disclosed?
Your contact details will be known to all PaDS users and this is a condition of ordering products from PEP. One advantage to you is that an update of your address by one organization allows an update for another. Your details will not be passed to non-PaDS users.
PaDS users will ensure that your personal information is stored securely, using sufficient and up-to-date protection measures.

How can I see what information you hold about me?
If you go to the PaDS website (by clicking here), you will be prompted for the personal user-identification code and password that PEP have sent you. If you cannot find this or if you have forgotten your username and/or password, please email support@p-e-p.org and we will remind you. You will then be able to see exactly what personal data we hold and you will be able to modify it. If you wish you can create a new userid and password.
